Branding and Brand identity : A common Puzzlement

Brand, Branding, Brand Identity or visual identity- these are the kind of words that many of the business owners get confused so often. Maybe all the things are the same! Or it’s all about just a logo. These aren’t myths. I had a common misconception on these for a long time also. But after breaking the things down I realized that I should break it down for all also.
Before breaking the puzzle we should know every term very well from the beginning.

 

 

Scott Cook, co-founder of Intuit- defines this in a very well manner that-

“A brand is no longer what we tell the consumer it is—it is what consumers tell each other it is.” 

Branding

As a business owner it’s your duty to tell the story according to how you want your audience to pursue it. It’s up to to your hand that how you are going to create your story by proper visual aesthetics, print materials, advertisement, strategies and online and offline marketing. What perception you want to spread to your audience.

 Branding:  The ways and process of telling story of a brand

Owner have to sell their story way before they can sell their products. Otherwise in the most saturated and competitive era it’s not possible to go forward. The brand’s success depends on telling the story in a very organized way from every way possible. So that audience can have a clear concept about the brand. When it’s possible, audience begins to recognize and trust the brand. That’s where lead conversion happens.

We can have an example for better understanding. Can you tell me what Apple sells? The answer is quite definite and it’s laptop or mobile most are going to answer. Actually no. They sell innovation, design, customer experience and premium lifestyle. Throughout it. Apple maintains a consistent message of sophistication and innovation. They have succeeded to tell their story so well that people easily can trust them blindly and want to experience the premium brand.

Brand Identity

Brand identity goes beyond just aesthetics; it’s about conveying your brand’s personality and values through visual and verbal elements. A well-defined brand identity resonates with your target audience, creating an emotional relationship. It’s a strategic asset that differentiates your business in the marketplace, making your brand’s voice heard amidst the noise.

Brand Identity: is the creative visuals of branding process which develops brand’s personality and create a emotional connection to your brand; including –

  • Logo Design,
  • Colors,
  • Typography,
  • Moodboards,
  • Patterns and 
  • Other graphic elements.

Many of the owners are confused by the thought that it’s just about a logo but Logo is just a small part of brand identity. Every part of brand identity combines to create a brand story not just a logo can make the impression.

Business Development is a very slow process. If the policies, missions and visions are definite and go forward with proper branding consistently you can build trust and loyalty, making it easier to acquire customers. In essence, effective branding elevates your business, making it indispensable in today’s competitive market.
